トケイ … さっそくだけど、GMT機能ってなに?
ウデオ … 世界標準時間つまり、グリニッチ時
って分かるよな?
トケイ … うん、分かるよ。
ウデオ … それを英語で言うと?
トケイ … 英語? 私が英語・苦手なの知ってるでしょ?
ウデオ … ゴメン、ゴメン。それは、グリニッジ ミーン タイム
と言うんだ。英語で書くとGreenwich Mean Timeで、
その頭文字のG、M、Tをとって、GMTとなるんだ。
トケイ … ふーん、それで、どんな機能なわけ?
ウデオ … 簡単にいえば、時計に24時間針と、
24時間目盛りがついていて、
現在の時間帯(ホームタイム)と
外国などの第二時間帯(ローカルタイム)を
表示することが出来る機能なんだ。
トケイ … へえ、それって外国行く時便利じゃない?
ウデオ … そうだよ。日本と海外の時間を同時に
表示できるからビジネスマンに人気の機能なんだ。
トケイ … そうなの?
ウデオ … 回転ベゼルで第三時間帯を表示するものや、
インダイヤルで第二時間帯を表示するもの、
さらには、これら2つの時計を合体させた
機能を持つタイプもあるんだぞ。
トケイ … すごいね。 でも私はそんなにたくさんあったら、
悪い頭が余計にコンガラがっちゃう。
2つぐらいが無難だと思いまーす。

TOKEI … Udeo, what’s GMT function?
UDEO … You know about the Greenwich Mean Time, don’t you?
TOKEI … Yes?
UDEO … The name of GMT is from the each initial
(G, M, T) of those words.
TOKEI … OK? So what kind of function is it?
UDEO … Simply saying, it is the function that
can indicate both standard time
and local time with a 24-hour hand
on the watch face and
24-hour-scale on the Bezel.
TOKEI … Wow, it must be very convenient
when going abroad.
UDEO … Yeah, No wonder many businessmen
love the watch with that function.
TOKEI … I see.
UDEO … Some watches have a Rotary Bezel that can
indicate “Third Time Zone”
And other watches have the indial
that shows “Second Time Zone”.
Furthermore, there are watches
that can tell both Second and Third Time Zone.
TOKEI … Wow! Great. ・・・But you know, A lot of
Time Zones can confuse me. So I think
A GMT watch with 2 Time Zones --- I mean
standard time and only
one another Time Zone is good for me.
