May I ...?(↑)／Is it Ok if I ...?(↑)／等”〜しても良いですか？”と聞かれた場合は


”Yeah.／Yes. ”：うん（いいよ）／はい（いいですよ）。
”Sure.”：もちろん。
”Of course. (オF　コーS）”：もちろんです。
”Go ahead.”：どうぞ。
”If you have to.（イF　ユー　ハF　トゥー）”：必要であれば。
”Of course not.”：もちろん駄目です。
”You can't.”：それは許されません。


等と答えます。”May I ...?”と聞かれた場合、
”Yes, you may.：ええ、良いわよ。””No, you may not.：いいえ、ダメよ。”
と答えることも出来ますが、これは目下の人や子供に対する表現です。

”〜してもいいですか？”の表現には他に
”Might I ...?(↑)””Can I ...?(↑)””Could I ...?(↑)”がありますが、
  これらは以下のように遣い分けます。
（例）

Might I sit here?：ここに座ってもよろしいでしょうか？

May I sit here?：ここに座っても良いでしょうか？
　　　　　　　　＜May I ....?は、かなり遠慮がちな表現で、
　　　　　　　　　相手に判断を委ねる時に使います。
　　　　　　　　　（相手に断られるかもしれない事を頼む時）　
　　　　　　　　　又、放送等改まった場でも使われます。＞

Is it Ok if I sit here?：ここに座っても良いですか？

Can I sit here?：ここに座っても良い？（いいでしょ？）
　　　　　　　　（どうしても座りたいという気持を伝える場合）

Could I sit here?：Can I sit here?の丁寧な表現。



”Might I ...?(↑)”は、かなり改まった表現であり、あまり遣われません。
代わりに”Do you mind if I ....?／Would you mind if I ....?”が遣われます。

日付の前の"on"は省略できます。

Today is August 8th.：今日は８月８日です。 
It's August 8th today.：今日は８月８日です。 
My friend's birthday is August 8th.：私の友達の誕生日は８月８日です。
