I always answer with the same four words: listen, read, watch and use. Many radio stations have websites where you can download podcasts free of charge. My personal favorite is www.bbc.co.uk/radio4. As for reading, I recommend ‘Graded Readers’. Many publishers have introduced their own series and you can easily find a book to suit your level. Why don’t you check out a large bookstore? Finally, many video rental stores stock a large supply of English and American movies. You are sure to find one you like… but set the audio to English! Finally, it is important to try and use some of the new words you have read or heard so that you can remember them. It can be said in a number of ways, for example with surprise, sarcastically or with confusion.
