Not to mention valet parking services, as I found out to my cost. But some hotels are offering deeply discounted room rates and last-minute reservations in an effort to entice customers. If anything, this recession-hit economy has really highlighted the difference between companies that actually put customers first and those that are willing to sacrifice customer loyalty for short-term gain. ────────────────────────────── distasteful, 不快な、不快感 [嫌悪感] を与える ────────────────────────────── If something is distasteful to you, you think it is unpleasant, disgusting, or immoral. ex) He found it distasteful to be offered a cold buffet and drinks before witnessing the execution. ────────────────────────────── feel the pinch, （金銭的に）苦しい状況である、お金に困る ────────────────────────────── If a person or company is feeling the pinch, they do not have as much money as they they used to have, and so they cannot buy the things they would like to buy. ex) Japanese car makers are feeling the pinch of an economic slowdown at home. ────────────────────────────── find out to one's cost, 自ら苦い経験をして（…を）知る ────────────────────────────── to someone's cost [ODE] with loss or disadvantage to someone ex) without programmes to play on it, the cleverest machine is useless - as some hardware manufacturers already know to their cost. ────────────────────────────── entice, 誘う、引き寄せる ────────────────────────────── To entice someone to go somewhere or to do something means to try to persuade them to go to that place or to do that thing. ex) Retailers have tried almost everything, from cheap credit to free flights, to entice shoppers through their doors. ────────────────────────────── if anything, どちらかというと、言ってみれば、いずれにしても ────────────────────────────── You use if anything, especially after a negative statement, to introduce a statement that adds to what you have just said. ex) I never had to clean up after him.
