[FORMAL] ex) This would inevitably involve his departure from the post of Prime Minister. ────────────────────────────── rip a telephone from one's desk, デスクから電話機を引き抜く ────────────────────────────── Office Perks (1)より If you rip something away, you remove it quickly and forcefully. ex) He ripped away a wire that led to the alarm button. ────────────────────────────── smash something to pieces against the wall, （もの）を壁に ぶつけてバラバラ [粉々] にする ────────────────────────────── Office Perks (1)より If you smash something or if it smashes, it breaks into many pieces, for example when it is hit or dropped. ex) Two or three glasses fell off and smashed into pieces. ────────────────────────────── isolated incident, ただ一つ [たった一度] の出来事 ────────────────────────────── Office Perks (2)より An isolated example is an example of something that is not very common. ex) They said the allegations related to an isolated case of cheating. ────────────────────────────── be in deep denial, (嫌な)現実を受け入れられない状態に深くはまり こんでいる、現実を強く否定している ────────────────────────────── Office Perks (2)より In psychology, denial is when a person cannot or will not accept an unpleasant truth. ex) I literally didn't know how fat I was.
