♪ 英文解釈
★ A home without love is no more a home than a body without a soul is a man.
It is in the home where the members of the family help each other that S V.
♯ 構造
A home 〜 is→接続語が無いから、この主語＋（助）動詞が文の中心
than→これの後ろの文が完全なので、接続詞
It is→接続語が無いから、この主語＋（助）動詞が第２文の中心
where→場所の副詞が変化した、関係副詞
that→名詞節を導く接続詞で、強調構文を作っている

♪ 語句と文法 １
A home without love
Men make houses, women make homes. は、古風な諺だ
男は家を建て、女は家庭を築く
house, home（家、家庭）の区別が、米国では不明確だ
ピーターとゴードンの名曲は、『A World Without Love』（愛なき世界）
She went away without saying anything.
何も言わずに、立ち去った。動名詞が、前置詞の目的語
too, hardly, without などは否定語なので、some→any とする
no more A than B
no more は、no とマイナス成分が１つだから、否定
no≒by zero degree
×I can no more swim than a hammer can. は、日本人の英作文
A whale is no less a nammal than a horse is.（馬と同じく、ほ乳類）
Work is not the object of life any more than play is.
仕事は遊びと同じく、人生の目的ではない。not any≒no
no more≒not any more の方が、普通の表記だ
than
My brother is three years younger than I.
I の次に動詞がないのは、首だけみたいで不気味
I am がノーマルだが、これを教えなかったのは、指導要領のせいだ
I am が教えられないのは、節を結ぶ接続詞の that をまだ教えてないゆえ
例文で、I→me の略式が中学教科書に載ったが、現場は大混乱しただろう
Elizabeth 女王も、than us と略式で演説して、物議を醸した
a body without a soul
mind（心）⇔body（体）であり、mind（知力）⇔emotion（感情）
Not a soul was to be seen on the street. の a の否定は、強意
人っ子一人いなかった。was to≒could で、seen≒found a man
Time and tide wait for no man.（歳月人を待たず）は陶淵明の言
no man→none となりつつあるのも、性差別語廃止運動の影響だ
man（男）で mamkind（人類）を意味するのは、女性に失礼だ

♭ 語句と文法 ２
It is A that S V.
It is you that/who are to blame for being late. の例文で説明する
君こそが、遅刻で責められるべきだ
強調構文とか、時に分裂文といわれる
who などの関係代名詞や、that などの接続詞を用いるから、分裂文
It is, that/who を除けば、You are to blame for 〜 . と普通の文が成立する
It is you and he that/who are to blame. で、It is→×They are は、不可
that 以下が過去ならば、It was とするのが良い
in the home where S V
関係副詞では、副詞が消失する。主語、補語、目的語は無傷のまま
接続詞は自己の世界を守り、完全な文を要求する
関係代名詞では、つなげた文の主語、補語、目的語が消失
I forget the place where I first met him.
初めて会った場所を忘れた。in the place→there→where
the members of the family
I am a member of the basketball club.（バスケ部です）
≒I belong to the basketball club.
family は夫婦とその子供で成り、同居の親などは含まない
Do you have a family? は、結婚してますかという意味だ
プロポーズの言葉に、yes と答えた未婚の日本人男性がいたそうな
help each other
help は目的、欲望を達成するために援助をするの意で、一般的な語
そばに←as/sist→立つは、補助の意味。aid では、援助者の方が上位にある
rescue は、危険から救う。避ける意の help も後述するが、大切
each other が２で、one another が３以上。しかし今は、区別しない
look at each other の文では、each other を代名詞的に使う
